Climbing & Trekking
Kilimanjaro is the African continent’s best-known and highest mountain. With its snow-capped peak, it justifiably features on nearly every adventurer’s list of must-dos.
The trek using the Lemosho route starts above the Londorosi Gate, already at an altitude of 2360 metres. This route takes longer, is often considered to be the most scenically-varied, and as a newer route it experiences lower numbers of trekkers.
More time is spent in the atmospheric rainforest and the extra time spent acclimatizing means a high success rate in reaching the summit. Trekkers enjoy a more remote experience than on the more popular routes and there may be chance encounters with elephant, buffalo, leopard, colobus monkeys and other mammals on Day One.
Lemosho route is a real favourite for photographers. With the years of experience our company has enjoyed, you can be assured that our knowledgeable and, above all, passionate staff, will take care of all the complex and important arrangements for the climb of this legendary mountain. We want you to have the best possible Kilimanjaro climb experience.
Each day of this trek is carefully designed to ensure proper acclimatization, safety, and a successful summit experience.
You will leave the hotel in the morning to arrive at the Londorossi gate for registration. After registration you will be driven up to where the walk starts, you will meet with your colleague trekking team who will be accompanying you throughout the mountain days.
You will walk for about 7 km for an expected 3.5 to 4 hours of walking time to reach Mti mkubwa (Big tree) on the way you will pass through rainforest of Kilimanjaro and you will see various birds before you reach Mti Mkubwa for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast you will start a walk of about the same distance as yesterday though walking time maybe around 7 hours. This is the day that you will enjoy the greatest variety of Kilimanjaro's wildflowers.
When the trail flattens out, you will have your first views of Kibo peak then you have a rest at Shira 1 camp for dinner and overnight.
Today you will cover few metres of around 350 but will be to the altitude of 3850 metres. It is an uphill climb which should take about 4 hours to reach Shira 2 camp where you will have an overnight for today.

In the morning you will have breakfast then you start walking for the same journey looking to summit though not today, you will have to cover about 10 km before you descend to Barranco for dinner and overnight.
The descent to Barranco camp will take you through a valley which is home to many unusual plants including the Senecio Kilimanjai. Barranco Camp is considered to be the most scenic campsite on the route. It is set in a canyon among forests of Senecio Kilimanjai beneath the Heim glacier.
From the campsite, enjoy magnificent views of Mount Meru, Heim Glacier, Kibo's southern face and the imposing Barranco Wall.
Today you will cover a short distance so you don't have to wake up too early however the distance of 4km will take about 4 hours before you reach Karanga camp.
Today is another day of searching for the summit after breakfast you will have a walk of 3.5 to 4 hours before reaching Barafu camp for lunch.
During this day, hike by the Heim, Kersten and Decken Glaciers. Although the trail to Barafu passes through alpine desert with little vegetation, there are stunning views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks along the way.
Finally the day you were waiting for comes, it is the exciting day but very tough, you will start a walk at midnight you will climb from Barafu at around 4600 metres to Stella point 5745 metres.

You will reach the summit in the morning around 7 where you will celebrate and take photos plus many more which can be done before you return to Barafu camp for the preparation to get to Mweka camp where you will have dinner and overnight.
