10-Day Northern Circuit Tanzania Safari

In the morning after breakfast, you will start a safari to the destination of the day, Materuni Waterfalls, it is around 3 hours’ drive from Arusha city.

Start your mini-adventure with the short but fascinating drive from Arusha up the lush slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro to the village of Materuni, approximately 1,800 m above sea level. This is market garden territory and has the perfect mixture of climate and soil to produce some of the best coffee in Africa.

You’ll visit a coffee farm and learn about how coffee is grown, harvested and processed, and you’ll try your hands at roasting and preparing a fresh cup of coffee the Chagga way. After a delightful coffee break (so much better than the ones at work!) you’ll take a beautiful 45-minute hike through the hills and valleys en route to the Materuni falls.

You’ll pass through banana and coffee plantations, up and down mini-valleys, across ridges and through narrow splashing rivulets. Along the way your guide will teach you about local plants and how they are used for food and traditional medicine, as well as giving you more insight into the local Chagga culture. Later you will be heading to Chemka Hot spring

Chemka Hot Spring
Chemka Hot Springs, an oasis of geothermal warmth that bubbles up from underground. This is surrounded by lush forest alive with birdsong and the call of monkeys, the Chemka Hot Springs is an ideal place to ease those tired legs after a strenuous ascent up Kilimanjaro.

This is probably the best place to swim. Emanating from within the earth, the geo-thermally warmed water is constantly renewed and is therefore very fresh, clear and clean.

After a whole day relaxation and enjoyment, you will be transferred back to Arusha for dinner and overnight at Karibu Heritage House

In the morning after breakfast, you will be picked from the hotel for Arusha National Park visit. After around 45 minutes’ drive from the hotel you will begin your visit to Arusha National Park.

The entrance gate of Arusha National Park leads into the forest of inhabited blue monkeys and colourful turacos and trogons – the only place in the northern safari circuit where the acrobatic black-and-white colobus monkey are easily seen.

In the midst of the forest stands the spectacular Ngurdoto Crater, whose steep rocky cliffs enclose a wide marshy floor dotted with herds of buffalo and warthog.

While in Arusha National Park you will be able to enjoy the view of Mount Meru by walking close to it for about 2 to 3 hours with armed ranger who will be accompanying you throughout.

Although elephants are uncommon in Arusha National Park, and lions are absent altogether, leopards, spotted hyenas, giraffes, buffalo and many other animals may be seen.

Later in the late afternoon you will be transferred back to the hotel.

In the morning after breakfast, African Chitah driver will escort you to a 4x4 safari jeep ready for a safari to Tarangire National Park.

Tarangire National Park has the highest population density of elephants in Tanzania. Tarangire comprises of herds up to 300 elephants which scratch the dry river bed for underground streams.

After the whole day game drive, you will be transferred to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

In the morning after breakfast the driver/ guide will pack your picnic lunch in a 4x4 safari jeep.

Lake Manyara National Park is a spectacular reserve that boasts an incredible diversity of land. The lake is full of birds such as hundreds of pink flamingos and yellow billed storks.

After the whole day game drive later you will be transferred to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Today you will be heading to Lake Natron.

Lake Natron has more than 2.5 million lesser flamingos, representing three-quarters of the world population.

The further north you reach, the more remains of old volcanoes rise around you including Ol Doinyo Lengai.

Later you will transferred to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

In the morning after breakfast, you will get in a safari jeep ready for a safari to Serengeti National Park.

Serengeti is home to lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, buffalo, millions of wildebeest and thousands of zebras.

You will have the game drive till the evening then transferred to your lodge.

Today you will have the whole day at the river waiting for the crossing.

Predators like lions, cheetahs and leopards are always present looking to feed on wildebeests and zebras.

After early breakfast, you'll proceed on a half day game viewing in Serengeti.

Optional activity: visiting Maasai village in Ngorongoro.

After registration descend to the crater for an enchanting game viewing.

Known as ‘the eighth wonder of the world’, the Ngorongoro Crater hosts around 25,000 large mammals.

After the crater you will be transferred to Karatu.

Today you will visit Lake Eyasi.

You will do hunting with Hadzabe bushmen and study the culture of Hadzabe and Datoga.

After the whole day historical and cultural surprises, you will be transferred to Arusha then airport.
